The Tech-priests of Mars refuse all requests for access to their records by historians of the Imperial Navy, so the origin of this class remains unclear, though one vessel, the Conqueror, is known to have particularly distinguished itself during the Great Crusade in the late 30th Millennium to bring the Emperor's light to the galaxy after the end of the Age of Strife. It is possible that this design is the product of grafting Lance weapons systems onto a Retribution template in an attempt to replicate the successful Apocalypse-class Battleship by replacing its broadside Macrobatteries and prow torpedo tubes with Lance batteries and a Nova Cannon. In its internal layout, the Victory-class greatly resembles the Retribution-class. Picture it, one of the few human survivors stumbles out of a wrecked building and looks up to see the decending dropships of the Ultramarines.The Imperial Navy's powerful Victory-class Battleship is suspected to be a modified Retribution-class Battleship. This is a perfect "all is lost/Thanos manages to snap" moment. Even the entire 1st company, one comprised entirely of veterans, had been slain to a man. After the Hive Fleet has been destroyed in orbit around a different planet in the system the war was essentially won but would Macragge be lost? When the space-bound Ultramarines returned to Macragge they found few survivors. It detonated its warp drives creating a warp vortex that consumed it and the majority of the Tyranid Hive Fleet.ĭrop planet side and initially the Space Marines and their human Auxillia are being overwhelmed. This story has it all including space combat climaxing in the noble sacrifice of the Emperor-class Battleship Dominus Astra.
